The Dimentia Species
Pictured below: A standard dimentia, uncolored in grayscale.
The dimentia are the main species focus in Unfinished, and what you will be creating as your character.
The standard dimentia are lizard-like creatures with large ears, although they are able to sport feathers and fur and possess smooth skin. Their skin color comes in a wide variety of colors, though usually desaturated. Their feathers can be brightly colored, however, and various patterns can be found on their skin, akin to the markings on animals.
Non-standard dimentia can have a wider variety of strange features, such as being comprised of non-flesh materials, possessing multiple or "floating" limbs, and all sorts of other various creative differences.
Dimentia exist as a species who are perpetuated by nebulous "Creators" -- entities that represent artists and writers. Dimentia do not propagate, and instead are created by these entities. In this way, they are able to come into the world as fully formed adults -- childhood is optional. Dimentia can "have" children by seeking audience with a Creator and requesting one from them.
The species is essentially immortal unless killed. They live for thousands of years, never aging past late adulthood. This is so that the Creators can enjoy their presence for as long as possible.
Dimentia consist of dimensional travelers -- the ability is inherent in the species -- who have various settlements in different dimensions and timelines. Some dimentia wield this ability more potently than others, but many different powers can manifest in dimentia. Elemental powers are not uncommon.
Overall, the dimentia species is an oddity -- but not the strangest thing to ever exist. There are monsters lurking around those dimensions of theirs ...
Cities and Locations
There are many cities to be discovered in Unfinished's world...
Daybreak
Daybreak, "The Golden City".
The main focus of Unfinished Rewritten's world is Daybreak -- most roleplays will take place here, and it is the central location of the group. A bustling city, it's considered the densest dimentian city in terms of population.
It was also the founding city for the entire race -- the very first dimentia were created by the Grand Creator there. For that reason, it is somewhat of a sacred place.
Daybreak is primarily built of golden-toned bricks, giving the entire city a warm sort of glow. It is home to a sprawling park and a towering library, as well as many shops and other places of service. The center of the city is home to the Fountain Square, a gathering place for many dimentia.
The main faction that occupies the city is called the Sunfeathers. They run the Daybreak Guard, and their Lorekeepers handle the library. They are lead by a dimentia known as Fire Whirl.
At two opposite sides of the city lie other faction-claimed land -- Retcons and Control Zed territory. These areas of the city are no different from the rest of Daybreak aesthetically, but are areas of high activity for both factions -- containing each's respective base.
Dimentia of any kind can come from this city, as it is the central hub for all things the species needs, and the founding area of the race.
Silverwing
Silverwing, "The Metallic City".
This dimentian city is the main center of technology for the race. It is by far the most advanced, with building made of various metals. Its colors are a mix of silvers, bronzes, and other metallic colors. The city was founded long ago in the rocky hillside that is in now, the rocky hillside that was rich with minerals and various metals.
As stated before, this city is the center of technology for the dimentian race-- it is very advanced, with magically-powered 'electrical' lighting and machines. Things here are powered by magic or magically-generated electricity, mainly.
Their strong points are their machinery and various devices, including weapons, and they're particularly well-known for their prosthetic limbs. These limbs directly link to the mind and function almost exactly like natural limbs. Even if you never knew how to control that type of limb as you were created without one, they'll still function by advanced magic!
Their weapons and armor are quite well-known as well.
The most common types of dimentia found here are ones that manipulate metal, those who manipulate earth and rock, those who use electricity, those who use fire, and those who can enchant objects.
Canopy
Canopy, "The City in the Leaves".
A very nature-based city. Its buildings are on various winding platforms connected by ropes and sturdy magic bridges. The city itself is woven into the branches of a massive tree that towers above smaller trees around it.
The city even goes into the hollow inside of the top of the tree-- this is where the most fiercely protected areas are, including the authority figures' dwellings and even a few of the schools and nurseries (Canopy takes the safety of its younger generations very seriously). The branches surrounded this area have been woven into thick walls of branches and leaves.
Canopy is well-known for its gifted healers and widespread knowledge of herbs and medicines. It is an absolute honor for a healer to be trained by Canopy's teachers. They're also one of the few cities to have befriended the local wildlife, which lives alongside the citizens.
Most commonly found here are plant-using dimentia, healers, water-using dimentia, rain-using dimentia, dimentia who fly, and those who train animals.
Cloudtop
Cloudtop, "The City of the Clouds".
Cloudtop is home to the toughest of winged dimentia, those who can harness the raging storms and fierce winds that swirl around the mountaintop on which it is built. Its buildings are sturdy and solid, an almost concrete-like substance, and very aerodynamic to keep the winds from blowing it away. The city is masked by thick clouds that surround the mountaintop.
Here, two factions live (or in one's case, lived) : The Stormfeathers and the Wind-Dancers.
The Stormfeathers were made of the more hardy, fiercer dimentia, who defended the city, and left it on expeditions to other cities, and would stay out the city for weeks on end. The Wind-Dancers managed things back home at Cloudtop, maintaining peace among the citizens and tending to the architecture. They also created most of the city's artwork and design. The Stormfeathers eventually disbanded due to member loss during war, but the Wind-Dancers are still around to this day.
Storm-based, rain-based, wind-based, and generally flight-based dimentia are found in Cloudtop.
Hourglass
Hourglass, "The City Between Time and Space".
This city, as the title implies, drifts between time and space. Here, only those with the most advanced magic may venture. It is home to the manipulators of time, and space. Here, the Timekeepers and Rift-Forgers make their home.
The sky inside this city seems to swirl with rift magic, and the whole area is amazing to be in for any dimentia. The air practically fizzes with magic. It is inside of a pocket dimension. The buildings were formed from raw magic solidified, and have an almost odd sheen to them. Hourglass' rivers run with slightly tinted water-- water containing, once again, magic in it. It is the center for magic use of the race, but is very hard to reach.
The Timekeepers, here, are the managers of time travel-- They prevent it from being used wildly by anyone inside or outside the city, as that would ruin timelines. The Rift-Forgers create the riftpaths that allow dimentia with less powerful magic to create rifts to various places- They lay down the paths, other dimentia wear them down for easier and easier use. While the Timekeepers are quite arrogant, the Rift-Forgers are actually fairly friendly and laid-back.
Dimentia with time-space related manipulation powers, dimensional-energy related powers, and others with especially "alien" features often originate from Hourglass.
Other Locations
There are many other locations that will be discovered within the world of Unfinished Rewritten in time. There are several planned, but the cities above are origin cities you may choose for your character!
Miscellaneous Lore
The most important additional pieces of lore for Unfinished Rewritten center around the Grand Creator, the founders of the Factions (the original two dimentia), and entities known as unfinished dimentia (the namesake of the group).
The Grand Creator is the first Creator to exist in the world of Unfinished, creating the original dimentia and paving the way for other Creators to follow in their footsteps. Some say that all Creators originated from them, split-offs from a larger whole -- that other Creators are splinters of the Grand Creator. The Grand Creator has not been seen for milennia, and is thought to be permanently missing.
The founders of the Retcons and Control Zed were the two original dimentia created by the Grand Creator, though their names are lost to time. There are rumors of extremely powerful magics being worked in the background of the world, however, and no one can seem to pin down where the power surges come from.
Unfinished dimentia, the namesake of the group, are dimentia who are concepts left "unfinished" by Creators -- leaving them sketchy or uncolored in appearance, or even missing limbs or various other extremities. In short, they are incomplete concepts come to life. Some are stable, some are not. The dimentian community at large disagrees widely on how to handle these individuals.
There will be more added to this section as more is discovered in roleplay!
